Dr Warren Lee is a Senior Consultant Paediatrician at KK Hospital with a private practice at Camden Medical Centre. He has a special interest in Paediatric Endocrinology and Adolescent Medicine.

His field of work includes problems of growth in childhood and puberty, disordered metabolism and hormone problems in obesity and eating disorders, and diabetes mellitus, as well as hormone disorders arising from surgery or post-chemotherapy.


After basic medical and paediatric training at the Tan Tock Seng and Singapore General Hospitals, he went on to train in Paediatric Endocrinology at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.

Dr Warren Lee was the founding head of service for both the Endocrinology Service and later the Adolescent Medicine services in KK Hospital and counts many innovations in his career. He continues to be in faculty practice as a Senior Consultant Paediatrician in the Endocrinology Service at KK Hospital with a focus on complex endocrine problems and the endocrinology of adolescence.

Dr Lee was an Advisory Council member for the International Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) and has been on the writing team for their international diabetes guidelines since 2000. He was also President of the Diabetic Society of Singapore from 1996 to 2002 and Chairman of DSS from 2002 to 2008. During his tenure at DSS, he started the Diabetes Care and Complications Centre scheme and was the Convenor of the 30th ISPAD meeting in 2004. He was an International Executive Board member of the International Diabetes Federation from 1996 to 2006 and was Chairman of the Western Pacific Regional Council of the International Federation from 2002 to 2003.


Dr Lee has been an invited speaker on diabetes topics in China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Taiwan, Tanzania, the United Kingdom and the USA. He has contributed chapters to three textbooks and is currently on the panel of reviewers of several US and international journals and served as an examiner for the NUS M Med (Family Medicine) programme.

Dr Lee has also been on the MCYS-MOH Child Abuse Protection Team panel of doctors since 1997 and is a member of the Singapore Children’s Society Research and Advocacy Standing Committee.

 


Dr Lee also served as Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC from 2001 to 2006, as Vice Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Community Development, Youth and Sports, as Chairman, Feedback Group for Health from 1999 to 2001, and for two terms as member of the Interministerial Committee on the Ageing Population.

Upon retirement from politics, he helped to set up the Adolescent Medicine Service at KK Hospital and also served as Chairman of the Ministry of Health Advisory Committee on Adolescent Health from 2006 to 2008.

Dr Lee continues to be in faculty practice as a Senior Consultant Paediatrician in the Endocrinology Service at KK Hospital with a focus on complex endocrine problems and the endocrinology of adolescence.
